Migrations of Hope
Migrations of Hope, stemming from the writer's doctoral work on the negotiation of diaspora space in the short fiction of three Indian American women writers - Bharati Mukherjee, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, and Jhumpa Lahiri, attempts to discuss the spatial ramifications of the diaspora in gendered terms. It analyzes how diaspora experiences work differently for men and women while also insisting that it is capable of offering greater empowerment to both. Viewed within a multicultural narrative, the book upholds diaspora narratives by women as offering valuable linguistic and epistemological bridges for fostering empathy, understanding and growth.
